Only 247 flu shots were administered in Lleida last week

Flu vaccinations are not going well in Lleida (and the rest of Catalonia), for example, during the last week analyzed by Health magazine (January 29 to February 4), the following regions only administered 247 doses of vaccine administered: 43 cases in the plains and 43 in the Pyrenees, according to data from the Catalan Infection Surveillance Information System. In previous weeks, 334, 646 and 1,528 doses had been administered throughout Lleida, and at the start of the campaign, as many as 13,351 doses had been administered in seven days (the week of October 23-29). If only people aged 60 or older, who the department specifically recommends getting vaccinated (as well as those who are vulnerable), are counted, then only 121 cases were vaccinated that week (91 and 30 respectively).

The cumulative influenza vaccination rate in Ponente City is 41.49%, which is only a few tenths higher than the previous two weeks (41%, 35% and 41.16%). A total of 63,604 doses have been administered. The proportion among people over 60 years old is 51.53%. In mountainous areas, the global index is 40.59%, compared with 40.44% and 40.31% in the previous two weeks. To date, 11,971 doses of vaccine have been administered. The proportion of the population over 60 years old is 48.81%. Public Health Minister Carmen Cabeza had already warned in Lleida on Monday about this situation, which is also seen in the Covid vaccination rollout, although the figures are still low. 32.83% of the population in the plains and 31.16% in the Pyrenees has been vaccinated, while the number of influenza cases diagnosed in primary care in Lleida continues to fall. There were 447 cases last week (381 cases in the plains and 66 cases in the foothills of Alanya), a decrease of 31.7% from the previous seven days. As in the rest of Catalonia, the level of spread is moderate. The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus also dropped from 82 to 71 in Ponent and from 18 to 13 in the mountains.
