In a recent interview with The Wrap, John Hoffman revealed that they filmed a scene with Loretta using a gift-wrapping machine, one of her passions, and that the scene was later cut from the final cut:

Gift wrapping is something that may span centuries, but are they still doing it? And they still do it. So it seemed like something that could be shown and that there would be time to see. And that was part of the opening montage, and at some point we shot it. And Patrick Howe designed a beautiful gift set, and at Macy’s we had vintage wrapping paper for each decade, which made the scene very specific.

Created by Steve Martin, Dan Fogelman and John Hoffman, Only Murders in the Building is about three strangers (Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez) who share the same obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves involved in a crime. .
