All ready for the Oscar Awards 2023. And Italy is there: Alice Rohrwacher is part of the five in the running for the best short with his ‘Le pupille’, produced by Alfonso Cuaron and based on a day of some girls in the period of fascist Italy. To center the candidacy is also Aldo Signoretti for the tricks of the biopic ‘Elvis’. The 2023 Academy Awards ceremony, 95th Academy Awards, will be held in the night between Sunday 12 March and Monday 13 (in Italy it will be 5 in the morning) at Dolby Theatre of Los Angeles and will be presented by anchorman Jimmy Kimmel. It was the comedies that hoarded the nominations Everything Everywhere All at Once (11 nominations) and Island Spirits (9 nominations).

There are ten films chosen for the challenge for the Oscar for best film: among the favourites, Steven Spielberg’s ‘The Fabelmans’, back from his successes at the Golden Globes. It will be a challenge between Austin Butler (Elvis), Colin Farrell (Island Spirits), Brendan Fraser (The Whale), Paul Mescal (Aftersun) and Bill Nighy (Living) for the statuette at the best leading actor at the 2023 Oscars. As for women, the five is composed by Cate Blanchett (Tár), Ana de Armas (Blonde), Andrea Riseborough (To Leslie), Michelle Williams (The Fabelmans) and Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once).

In this edition stands out a great favorite for the experts of Sisaland it’s the movie “Everything Everywhere All At Once“, directed by Daniel Kwan And Daniel Scheinertwhich was awarded eleven nominations including those of “Best Movie” And “Best Director”: both statuettes are proposed at a low shot of 1.10. Another highly coveted category is that of “Best Actor” where the favorite is Brendan Fraser at 1.60 for his widely lauded performance in “The Whale” – directed by Darren Aronofsky. Just back Austin Butler who took on the role of “Elvis” and which, at the preview of the Cannes Film Festival 2022, received a 12-minute standing ovation: its victory is at 2.10, while it rises to 12.00 for the statuette at Colin Farrell For “The Banshees of Inisherin”. Going to category “Best Actress”according to experts Sisalthe number one candidate is Michelle Yeohprotagonist in “Everything Everywhere All At Once”. Already at the 2022 Golden Globes, she obtained the acclaim of international audiences and critics for her interpretation of her in the film, her triumph is in fact at 1.75. Almost on an equal footing is navigation Cate Blanchett For “Tar”: already nominated eight times for the Oscars and winner of the statuette in 2014, her encore is at 1.80.
In the category “Best Original Song” two great music stars challenge each other: Rihannaat 4.50, interpreter of “Lift me up” For “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”. The song was conceived as a tribute to the late actor Chadwick Boseman, protagonist of the first film of the saga. AND Lady Gaga candidate for “Hold My Hand” in “Top Gun: Maverick”: already winner in 2019 with the song “Shallow”, another success of hers is offered at 5.00. Both, however, give way to “Naatu Naatu”, theme song from the movieRRR” and first Indian song to manage to be nominated for an Oscar, winning at 1.30.
Guests of the evening
According to Academy tradition, the previous year’s four winners of the Academy Awards for Best Actor and Best Actress present their awards to their successors. This year, however, there will be only three of the 2022 winners on stage – Jessica Chastain, Ariana DeBose and Troy Kotsur – because the fourth, Will Smith, was banned for ten years from the Oscar ceremony after slapping Chris Rock of the year last. The other stars involved in awarding the winners of the other categories will be Harrison Ford, Nicole Kidman, Samuel L Jackson, Dwayne Johnson, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, John Travolta, Emily Blunt, Glenn Close, Jennifer Connelly, Florence Pugh and Halle Berry. They will be joined by Antonio Banderas, Elizabeth Banks, Hugh Grant, Salma Hayek Pinault, Melissa McCarthy, Halle Bailey, Janelle Monáe, Questlove, Elizabeth Olsen and Pedro Pascal.
Rihanna arrives on stage
Among the artists who will perform at the ceremony stands out Rihanna, whose show at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles comes exactly one month after his electrifying performance at the Super Bowl. Rihanna will sing ‘Lift Me Up’ (from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), nominated for Best Original Song. The most accredited Oscar candidate in this category, however, is ‘Naatu Naatu’ soundtrack of Indian film ‘RRR’ which will be performed at the ceremony by Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava. David Byrne, Son Lux and Stephanie Hsu will perform ‘This Is A Life’ (from ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’), while Diane Warren and Sofia Carson will sing ‘Applause’ (from the film ‘Tell It Like a Woman’). Absent Lady Gaga, despite her song ‘Hold My Hand’ (from the film ‘Top Gun: Maverick’) is the fifth candidate in the category. However, since she will be attending the ceremony, fans are hoping that she can still perform a surprise performance. Finally, Lenny Kravitz will perform during the ‘In Memoriam’ section, which pays homage to cinema characters who died in the last year.
