Our predictions for America’s awards season, with updated rankings of the favorites, contenders and potential surprises in the major 2024 Oscars categories.
Among the most impressive hit that Hollywood experienced in recent decades, when almost all productions were blocked for several months, and most of the stars left the festivals, the inevitable awards season risks being completely atypical, with advertising campaigns that currently cannot rely on the usual presence of actors. This situation, which has already led to the postponement of the release of important publications (including Dune – Part Twopostponed until next year), how much will this affect Oscar race 2024? While negotiations between American studios and the Screen Actors Guild continue, it’s time to reveal our predictions for 2024 Oscars favorites: which films, directors and performers have the best chance of getting nominated Academy Awards, which will be announced on January 24? In keeping with tradition, here are our predictions (updated monthly) for the possible candidates for the 96th highest US film awards.
Best movie
October: Three titles currently stand among the heavyweights of the upcoming season. Awards Season: Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan’s massive phenomenon, and two festival-winning works, Poor Creatures! Yorgos Lanthimos, winner of the Golden Lion, and Killers of the Flower Moon veteran Martin Scorsese. There are ten candidates on the shortlist forOscar for Best Film Other highly acclaimed films from Venice, Toronto and the surrounding area should also be included: Bradley Cooper’s Maestro, Alexander Payne’s The Leftovers and American fiction Korda Jefferson, awarded by the public at the Toronto Film Festival, as well as Anatomy of a fall Justine Trieu, French legal drama, awarded the Palme d’Or. Not forgetting, of course, the very popular Barbie Greta Gerwig, who was wildly popular with viewers.

October: Six years later Dunkirk, Christopher Nolan pledged his second candidacy for the postOscar for Best Director thanks to Oppenheimer, among the five who were to see him in the company of the Greek Yorgos Lanthimos For Poor creatures!five years after nomination Most lovelyand tireless Martin Scorsese, thanks to the enthusiasm gathered by his Flower Moon Killers. Behind this hypothetical trio is a very close call: Bradley Cooper could come out on top with his second stint behind the camera. Best Actor
October: Two names have secured nominations in advanceOscar for best actorand who is most likely to compete for victory, both for biographical roles related to very important figures of the 20th century: Bradley Cooper for his portrait of composer Leonard Bernstein in Owner AND Cillian Murphy for his troubled interpretation of the “father” of the atomic bomb in Oppenheimer. Still on the biopic front, Colman Domingo has a good chance of starring in the film. Rustindedicated to civil rights activist Bayard Rustin, and rounding out the top five would be two great Hollywood talents: Paul Giamattiwhich was again directed by Alexander Payne in LeftoversAND Leonardo DiCaprio For Killers of the Flower Moon, his new collaboration with Martin Scorsese. However, Jeffrey Wright should not be underestimated. American fiction or a potential surprise: irresistible fake hitman Glen Powell in Hitman.
