Pablo joins Charlotte Wilder to discuss the unlikely romance between Michael Jordan’s son and Scottie Pippen’s ex… and the couple themselves.
About the latest Pablo Torre discovered, Pablo enlists the help of Oddball’s Charlotte Wilder and producer Ryan Cortez to investigate a love story that seems too good to be true. He and Charlotte then began talking to the lovers. Who are we talking about? Of course, there’s Marcus Jordan and Larsa Pippen, the latter being the son of Michael Jordan, whose significant other happens to be Scottie Pippen’s ex-wife.
To learn more, the staff started listening to every episode of Marcus and Larsa’s podcast, separation anxiety. No disrespect intended, Ryan is not a fan to say the least.
Charlotte noted that Larsa and Marcus introduced themselves not because of their famous relationship, but because of their own accomplishments and interests, hers on The Real Housewives of Miami and his sneaker boutique trophy room.
They went on to play some audio from the podcast, which included Marcus talking about how he and Larsa met in the VIP room at a Jordan Brand party four years ago, and she admitted to worrying about whether dating him was worth “fighting for” in Madness (Michael and Scotty have been feuding since The Last Dance came out), Marcus admits that The Last Dance is a movie he can watch over and over and their interpretation of Michael Jordan says no, he doesn’t approve of their relationship
.
Pablo emphasized at one point that the combination was so explosive that it almost felt calculated because the incentives were so obvious. Charlotte agreed, and it’s easy to see how the easiest way for Marcus and Larsa to get noticed would be to get together and start talking about getting married. Charlotte noted that Marcus was most excited when talking about his father’s reaction to him. So is this true love? Who better to ask than Larsa and Marcus themselves!
Larsa points out, in order to hit back at those who question the validity of their relationship, who has time for a scam? She highlighted her own show, her business, her kids, her sneaker boutique. Who pretends to be in love for over a year?
Pablo asked for a list of pros and cons of going into the relationship, and Larsa said she knew it would be hard for them to date, but after spending time together, there were a billion pros and cons, and the cons were just their last names . She says she doesn’t care about her ex – noting that she never said anything bad about him – and that to her, the only thing she cares about is her happiness, Marcus’ happiness and her children. She said they loved him and he fit into their family effortlessly. Marcus added that he likes to say that he and Larsa are the same person, both growing up in Chicago, even though, as Larsa pointed out, she was actually only with the Bulls during the final “Last Dance” season around.
They didn’t want to know too much about how the family viewed the relationship, but Marcus did say that Michael told him that he was an adult and could make his own decisions, and that ultimately as long as Marcus was happy, he was happy.
