The millionaire socialite everyone once loved to hate and hated to love is returning to television in a way fans have never experienced before: as a dramatized character portrayed (at least presumably) by an entirely different person. It’s right, Paris Hilton is cashing in on the success and relevance of her memoir and documentary by signing on to turn her autobiographical work into a scripted television series. The few details we know about already seem pretty sweet, and I know exactly who should play the woman who once asked if Walmart was building walls.
The ever-bustling studio A24 stepped in and chose the option Paris: Memoirs to be adapted as an episodic TV show, it appears that executives have literally invested heavily in the project, as the deal was reportedly worth six figures, which also included Dakota Fanning’s production banner. The book not only made headlines, but also heads when it was released in March 2023. Simple life colleague shared many candid anecdotes from her storied life, including I get on the cover of Playboy and deal with eighth grade teacher is in love at her, and one can only assume that the television version of events will also cause a stir or two.
Paris Hilton is said to be part of the upcoming adaptation in some form or another, but details of her involvement have not been revealed at this time. I think we can all agree that it would be surprisingly attractive if Hilton portrayed herself on the show, especially since the crew wouldn’t have to do much to de-age her. But I have no idea who would really excel in the role House of Wax vet.
Kaitlyn Dever, y’all.
Anyone familiar with at least three projects from Kaitlyn Dever’s filmography knows that the actress works wonders in whatever role she plays, regardless of genre, tone or amount of screen time. Comedy? Look no further than Book Shop and her years later Last Hero. Straight up drama? Dever was an ace Incredible, intoxicating And Short term 12. And she is no stranger to such actions beyond borders as Reasonable — Loretta McCready for life! — Monsterland and most recently Hulu’s invasion thriller. No one will save you. So I don’t think she can create a multidimensional performance out of the role of Paris Hilton.
Likewise, Kaitlyn Dever has all the authority in the world to instantly legitimize the objectively insane concept of a “Paris Hilton A24 movie.” Daniel Kaluuya produces Barney movie because the studio makes it less funny. Not that Hilton’s life as the basis of a high-profile television drama is nearly as strange now, in the era of post-prestige television, as it was ten years ago, but there is no doubt that there are plenty of potential viewers who will need a compelling reason to convince them . to view. And there’s a good reason: your name is Caitlin.
And that’s probably not as important as everything else because of the magic of Hollywood, but Dever is also at the perfect age where she could play a younger Paris without much effort (except for a lot of blonde hair dye, naturally). and also wouldn’t have needed much tweaking to play a version of Hilton closer to today.
Less Logical Dream Casting Idea: Krysten Ritter
Wouldn’t it be an incredible ride to see Krysten Ritter as IT Girl as Paris Hilton? I won’t spend a lot of time trying to convince anyone of this, since the likelihood of them getting together would be much less likely given that Ritter and Hilton are very close in age. But if for some reason the A24 executives don’t pay attention to my ideas about Dever, they might at least settled on the second option, amirite? (This show will give Love and death one of the leads is a completely different way to get drunk on TV than the time she was Jessica Jones‘also an entitled badass.)
There is currently no word on when casting will begin for this new project or when this news will ultimately reach future audiences, but I will be here singing Kaitlyn Dever’s praises the entire time.
