Patrick Mahomes is the reigning Super Bowl MVP and won two championships with the Kansas City Chiefs, and now we know he was inspired by the great Tom Brady ) Inspiration from pre-game actions
Patrick Mahomes admitted that he was inspired to some extent by NFL legend Tom Brady.
A few months ago, the Kansas City Chiefs star named the seven-time Super Bowl winner the greatest quarterback of all time, ahead of Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers. The two have faced each other six times, with Mahomes and Brady winning three each.
Brady has influenced many of today’s NFL players, and judging by his pregame rituals, the 28-year-old is no exception. In a video of Mahomes on the sideline during the game, he modeled how he thinks quarterbacks typically run down the field to make plays, and then explained how Brady does it.
“You watch every quarterback run out of the tunnel, and that’s how they run out,” Mahomes said while imitating a jog. “Then when I came out, I was like ‘Yeah!’, which Tom (Brady) used to do when he ran down (the sideline) and yelled.”
In the video, Mahomes does the same thing, jumping up and down before yelling at the crowd and giving them a pep talk before the game begins. Brady, who announced his second retirement earlier this year, is considered by many to be the greatest player the game has ever seen.
In the lead-up to Super Bowl 57 in February, Mahomes commented on the qualities he believes Brady possesses that put him in a league of his own. “He’s got that Jordan thing about him — the will to win, and that’s going to be the best,” Mahomes explained. “I think that’s what makes Tom so great.
“Even though he may not have the best arm or the best mobility, he’s still very good at those two things and moving within the pocket and with arm strength. His willingness to lead his teammates is also special. He wants to be great. , the will to be the best is special. Whenever I talk to Tom, I try to understand as much as possible about that.
“He was very willing to give me some advice, which I thought was cool because he was the GOAT and someone I wanted to try and chase. But I knew it was a long way off for me and I had to keep winning Football game.” Mahomes is building a legacy of his own, having won two Super Bowls, two Super Bowl MVPs and two regular-season MVP awards.
His performance in this year’s Super Bowl was one of his best in recent years despite an ankle injury, and the Kansas City Chiefs star is hungry for more success. Last month, I vowed to do my best to match Brady’s record of seven Super Bowl wins.
“Seven is a lot, but I’m going to try to get as close as possible,” Mahomes said. “Winning seven Super Bowls and going to 10 Super Bowls, even to me today, it’s crazy to think about. Other statistics follow. I know that at Texas Tech, I delivered Lots of stats, but no winning games. When I got into the NFL, I knew I wanted to be a winner (first and foremost).
“Trying to win a Super Bowl and give my team the best that I can.” The Chiefs have won two of three games so far this season and are aiming to head to the Big Ten this weekend. Trying to win three straight games against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium.
