PayPal expands the world with ‘cryptos’. After the disappointment of the ‘stablecoin’ promoted by Facebook, the American payment manager announced this Monday the launch of a service for the sale and storage of cryptocurrencies beyond the US: it will also open this offer in the United Kingdom. As detailed in a statement, this service will begin to be deployed this week.
Clients will be able to choose between four types of cryptocurrencies: bitcoin, ethereum, litecoin and bitcoin cash. Through the PayPal account both on the web and on the mobile, they will be able to see the prices of cryptocurrencies in real time, access educational content about these assets and learn more about them, “including their opportunities and risks,” according to the statement. .
“This announcement marks the first international expansion of the cryptocurrency offering outside the US,” the company explains in the statement. “With a trusted brand like PayPal entering this market, cryptocurrency access, insight and exploration has the potential to go ‘mainstream’ in the UK.”
PayPal, which already launched this service in the US in October, will compete in this market with giants such as Coinbase or Revolut.
