Pedro Castillo: “I call on businessmen from Colombia, Latin America and the world to invest in Peru without fear”

From Colombia, the Peruvian president, peter castle, He called on Colombian businessmen, and from all of Latin America, to invest in Peru by ensuring legal stability. This request was made during his participation in the beginning of the VI Binational Cabinet between both nations.

It is this feeling, Castillo highlighted that Peru and Colombia are committed to reaffirming their friendship as neighboring countries for the good of their peoples, who benefit from the trade that exists between their borders.

“I think it is important that this agenda be nurtured, not only on paper, but that ministers from different sectors come and go, cross the border with the aim that in a short time the country has economic and legal stability”, said the head of state.

“In this Binational Cabinet, I call on entrepreneurs from Colombia, Latin America and the world to go to Peru to invest without any fear”, The president stated from the city of Villa de Leyva, in the department of Boyacá (center), where the meeting was held.

In addition, the Peruvian president highlighted the progress of vaccination in teachers and children to ensure the return to face-to-face classes in March 2022, as announced by the head of the Ministry of Education (Minedu), Rosendo Serna.

“We are with more than 80% of the population vaccinated with the second dose, now we are directing the vaccination not only of teachers, but also of the school population for the return to face-to-face attendance”, Castle commented.

“More than president, my concern is as a teacher when seeing the students away from their classroom, away from the contact that the child has with the teacher. We are committed to returning to the classroom “, he added.

At another point in his speech, the Peruvian head of state maintained that one of the struggles of his administration is against corruption, since it distances the population from services and rights such as water, health and education.

“We believe it is important that peoples trust their authorities,” emphasized the president by underlining the need for the State to get closer to the population.

Finally, he stated that it is his duty defend the environment and sit down to talk without agendas or political ideologies, or other things, that lead to confrontation between nations.

“From here I call for later to sit down with the business brothers, teachers and farmers and schedule a common educational curriculum”, he claimed.

Pedro Castillo arrived in Colombia this morning accompanied by his wife, Lilian Paredes, and seven ministers, headed by the president of the ministerial cabinet, Mirtha Vasquez. Meanwhile, in Peru, it was revealed that Dina Boluarte Zegarra remains in charge of the office of the Presidency of the Republic, according to Supreme Resolution 009-2022 -PCM.


The VI Colombia-Peru Binational Cabinet will have economic reactivation, the joint fight against COVID-19, as well as cooperation in trade, social programs, security and the environment on the agenda, reported the Colombian Presidency.

This Binational Cabinet “is of special importance” since said mechanism has not met since 2019, “due to different factors, including the situation caused by the covid-19 pandemic”, while it is being developed as a prelude to the 200 years of the establishment of bilateral relations between Peru and Colombia, anniversary to be celebrated on July 6.

“We went to the installation of the VI Colombia-Peru Binational Cabinet, a joint work mechanism that we had not been able to carry out since 2019 due to the pandemic. We highlight the visit of President Pedro Castillo in the year of the bicentennial of our diplomatic relations”, wrote the president of Colombia, Iván Duque, on his Twitter account, accompanied by several photographs with Pedro Castillo.

To date, five Presidential Encounters and Binational Cabinets have been held with Colombia. These were in Iquitos, on September 30, 2014; Medellin, on October 30, 2015; Arequipa, on January 27, 2017; Cartagena, on February 27, 2018; and Pucallpa, on August 27, 2019.
