Penelope Cruz and Riley Keough in chic Chanel outfits at Paris Fashion Week

A host of Hollywood stars appeared in the front row at Chanel’s spring/summer show.

Spanish actress Penelope Cruz, a long-time brand ambassador, chose an ivory two-piece jacket and a gold embroidered skirt for Paris Fashion Week.

American actor Riley Keough was dressed from head to toe in Chanel, wearing a cream tweed coat, two-tone boots, a quilted leather handbag and black sunglasses.

Makeup artist Mai Queen shared a video of star Daisy Jones and the six getting ready for the show.

While many influential brands presented spring/summer collections that included plenty of all-black looks (Gucci, Dior, Dolce and Gabbana to name a few), Chanel creative director Virginie Viard offered a lighter take on the season.

Against a catwalk backdrop adorned with huge, colorful flowers, the designer presented a cascade of suits with bouclé skirts (a Chanel classic) in pink plaid and chaise stripes.

Viard, who joined the luxury brand in 2019, said she was inspired by Villa Noailles, a modernist house built in the 1920s in the hills above Hyères in southern France by philanthropists Charles and Marie-Laure de Noailles.

Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel apparently interacted with this creative couple and shared the same forward-thinking approach to design.

1920s inspiration showed up in nautical black and white stripes on minidresses and tunics, paired with long beaded necklaces.

Coastal fashion introduced beach boxer shorts, strappy tops, swimsuits and even flip-flops (seeing them more and more on the runways lately).

For the evening there were softer silhouettes – flowing, transparent black dresses, doll-to-ankle length, with ruffles or bows.

Long, floor-length dresses and palazzo pants were embellished with the famous double C monogram.

The repeating square check pattern seen on a pretty blue halter neck top and several bespoke pieces was reminiscent of the windows and gardens of Villa Noailles.

The garden’s triangular elements are reflected in the chevron border, graphic embellishments and prismatic mini bag.

Confirming that the ballet flat renaissance is far from over, models wore minimalist black and white flats, as well as sparkly styles topped with black bows.

With a wide range of crossbody bags ranging from micro wallets to square camera bags, high-end shoppers will have plenty of options to accessorize their spring outfits.
