LIDO DI VENICE – Raffaella and Andrea Leone, together with Oscar winner Penelope Cruz, are developingAn English-language adaptation of Elena Ferrante’s bestseller Days of Abandonment.. Penélope Cruz will play the title role and the film will be directed by Isabelle Kouache, one of the most famous Spanish directors (The Bookshop, Elegy, My Life Without Me).
The screenplay was entrusted to Laurence Coria, a French screenwriter best known for his work with Michael Winterbottom. The deal to make the film, now in development, was signed before the SAG-AFTRA strike. The film will be produced by Lotus Production, Leone Film Group, Penélope Cruz under her production company Moonlyon, and Edu Cruz and Marco Perego under Nimoa Entertainment.
