There is nothing she can do without being verbally and physically harassed by peers and her family. He can, at any time, neutralize himself by snapping his fingers from obvious physical superiority. but it’s not like that. Because it’s too good. Therefore, despite the completely unnecessary suffering, he accepts his destiny. The destiny which is “by birth” and against which he cannot fight because no one is willing to take care of the “fat lady who looks like a pig”. Ironically, he comes from a butcher family. Unfortunately, some of her (adorable) classmates started disappearing…

Meanwhile, she can’t even open a social network without suffering “bromas” (jokes) of insults and really scary betrayals. Before the horror/crime story kicks in, it’s really hard to see the depravity shown throughout the first half of the movie as if it’s inevitable. Because, unfortunately, from what active influencers fighting against bullying and normalizing bunions can tell us, that’s how it goes. Of course, here we are faced with a narrative based on exaggeration. But an even worse exaggeration, as it is unrealistic, are our social bubbles that tell us of an inclusive world in which such things are not on the agenda. With all due respect to body positivity and the brands that obsessively repeat how beautiful we all are for the sole, ulterior motive of selling more feminist* t-shirts and accessories and growing their pink annual business.

PIggy isn’t a perfect movie, but it’s worth watching, even if only to get rid of the crap we hear every day from the wonderful world of Instagram that treats us like fat swans.

Of course, there are “splatter” parts, but they’re definitely a lot sneakier than what might be expected from the trailers and posters. Piggy is the anti-Barbie we deserve and, coming out in these unfortunate times, it’s almost revolutionary. The ugly, the dirty and the bad leave no room for any sweetness and thus fill our laughing society with the abominations that unfortunately often happen.

Unfortunately due to being distributed with droppers in Italian cinemas, you’ll have to hurry so as not to miss out on seeing it in cinemas. It will be worth it because, from time to time, it is indeed good not to be convinced, to sit uncomfortably and be served with factual “reality”. Enjoy your food.
