beetle juice (released in Italian with the subtitle Piglet Sprite) is one of Tum Burton’s most famous works. This is a supernatural comedy about demons, ghosts and haunted houses. Tonight, August 4, 2023, at 21:05 on the digital terrestrial channel Twentyseven will be broadcast beetle juiceif in the middle of summer you are experiencing extraordinary nostalgia for Halloween. But for those who aren’t already familiar with this little ’80s movie cult, let’s recap the plot and cast. ATTENTION for very minor plot SPOILERS, we limit ourselves to the minimum disclosure of the premise.
Beetlejuice plot
1980s, Connecticut. Barbara and Adam Maitland they live out their idyllic wedding decorating their newly bought house. However, due to a car accident, they not only died, but also they become real ghostsstuck in his house. Shortly after their death, a new family buys the house: Dietsyamong which a teenager stands out Lydia attracted by creepy. The Maitlands are simply not interested in sharing a house with anyone else, dead or alive, but as new ghosts, they still have a lot to learn about how to scare their new tenants. They will then be forced to consult an expert on the subject: demon beetlejuice. Beetlejuice, however, with his eccentric behavior can do more harm than good…

Let’s start with the star of the show, Beetlejuice himself. Beneath kilos of make-up and a green wig that could have belonged to the Joker, he hides Michael Keaton. But this is not the only famous name: a very young Lydia Dietz is played by an equally young Winona Ryder. They present their faces to Mr and Mrs Maitland Alec Baldwin AND Geena Davis (Thelma and Louise). Mr. and Mrs. Dietz no less: he Geoffrey Jones (Amadeus Milos Forman), she Katherine O’Harawhich you could see in Shitts Creek and definitely in Mom, I missed the planeas the mother of Kevin McCallister. Finally, we also remember: Sylvia Sidney, Robert Goulet, Dick Cavett, Glenn Shadix, Annie McEnroe and Marie Cheatham.
