The “Pokémon Home” app has just been released and is a cross-edition home for your pocket monsters. At the start of the app, The Pokémon Company is extremely generous – namely, Pokémon is given away.
If you log in to the cloud service for the first time, you can choose one of the three Kanto starters: Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle. Interestingly, these three starters have hidden skills that they don’t actually have in games.
Get a Kanto starter for sword and shield
You can then leave the selected Pokémon in Pokémon Home or transfer it to Pokémon sword and shield. Yes, you read that correctly. Although Bulbasaur and Schiggy were previously excluded from the Pokédex in “Sword and Shield”, it is now possible to send them over using “Pokémon Home”. Quite legally.
Numerous Pokémon are returning in sword and shield
This is not only possible with the gifted starters, but also with the starters that you have already transferred from other games to “Pokémon Home”. In addition, with “Pokémon Home” you can now send numerous other Pokémon to the new editions for Nintendo Switch. These include Mewtwo, the Alola starters and the 5th and 7th Gen Legendary Pokémon. You can see all the new transferable Pokémon listed here.
Pikachu, Eevee, and Rotom as a gift
As a further Pokémon gift, a Pikachu is waiting for you in the Pokémon Box from “Pokémon Home”. There’s nothing special about it, it’s just a free Pikachu.
If you exchange a Pokémon via GTS for the first time, you will be rewarded with a Rotom as a gift. And when you trade a Pokémon for the first time via the Wonder Box, you will receive an Eevee. You can get these Pokémon from the Secret Events menu.
“Pokémon Home” is available as a download for Nintendo Switch as well as Android and iOS.
