Five years after their latest film The Favorite, Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos and his new muse Emma Stone they promise scandal with the new Poor Thingswhich will presumably debut at the Cannes Film Festival next May.
The timing of the MPAA is indeed suspicious to say the least, given that in these hours the association has officially confirmed not only that the film is complete but also that it has earned a sound rated-r classification. Really the verdict anticipates strong and pervasive sexual contentgraphic nudity, disturbing material, blood, violence and bad language: in short, so on and so forth, but it wouldn’t be a Yorgos Lanthimos film without shocking content.
Recall that Poor Things stars Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo, and according to reports is inspired by none other than the story of Frankenstein. Filming wrapped in late fall 2021, with production house Searchlight’s crowded 2022 line-up and lengthy editing and post-production work (probably due to visual effects) plotting to delay the film indefinitely. release of the film, increasingly awaited by the author’s fans: finally, however, the time has (almost) arrived.
