Gibraltar’s Camposista Health Management District has announced that it will once again establish a flu and new crown vaccination site next Tuesday (November 7) at the famous Algeciras market in the city’s Fair Park. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., health professionals in the above-mentioned areas will be actively recruiting to provide corresponding doses to citizens in need.
The Andalucia region started on Monday, October 30, the third phase of the 2023/2024 influenza and COVID-19 vaccination campaign, which started on October 9. During this phase, people over 60 years old and various professional groups, such as security forces and corps, ranchers or prison institution staff, have the opportunity to receive both vaccines. They therefore join other groups that already benefit from vaccination, such as health and social care professionals, people with chronic diseases, pregnant women and women in the postpartum period (the first 6 months after giving birth). In addition, children aged 6 to 59 months can also receive the flu vaccine.
In this new era, pneumococcal vaccination has been increased for those aged 60 to 72 years and for those with risk factors for invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD). All persons in the above-mentioned groups have access to a tent set up for this purpose, which was opened with the support of the Algeciras Municipal Council.
