PRI member Carlos Brito dies at 89




PRI member Carlos Brito Gómez died this afternoon in the city of Xalapa at the age of 89. According to unofficial sources, he was derived from a picture of pneumonia that became complicated.
In an obituary letter, children, grandchildren, brothers and other relatives bid farewell to the former PRI national leader and one of Veracruz PRI’s last icons.
Carlos Brito was born in Coatzacoalcos and had a thriving political career, first as Deputy Minister of the Veracruz State Government in the 1970s.
From 1982 to 1985, he served as a member of the Federal Parliament. In 1987, he also served as President of the Court of Administrative Procedure of the State of Veracruz.
A year later, Carlos Brito was appointed mayor of Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, where he served from 1988 to 1991.
From 1998 to 2001, he also served as a local representative and chairman of the board of the Veracruz State Assembly.
For ten years he held the honorary position of Chair of the Internal Processes Committee within the PRI.
