Morelia, Michoacan, September 26, 2023. – The Michoacán State Health Department (SSM) continues to actively administer BCG and hepatitis B vaccines to newborns in medical units and invites parents to protect their children.
Biological agents for hepatitis B should be used within the first month of life to prevent the disease safely and effectively; while the BCG vaccine can prevent tuberculosis and must be used within the first 7 days of life.
Regardless of the rights regime for minors, the services of these two biologics are completely free of charge in order to provide protection against these diseases that are preventable through timely immunization.
It is important to have a National Health Card to apply for any bio, which can be done at the Health Promotion Area of the Ministry of Health and documents can be provided by simply presenting the birth certificate and family certificate.
In Morelia, supplies are sufficient at the Women’s Hospital and the Morelia Urban Health Center “Juan Manuel González Urueña” from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; the Children’s Hospital is only open on Thursdays.
