poretta term The 35th edition of the Poretta Soul Festival will be held from July 20 to 23, 2023, and will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Stax Museum of American Soul Music in Memphis, in collaboration with the Stax Music Academy and featuring artists who made soul music history.
The house band will be formed by the phenomenal Bo-Keys, or Memphis’ most influential musicians, backed by three exceptional vocalists: The sensational Barnes Brothers.
Mononeon will be the special guest on the first evening of the Porreta Soul Festival 2023 on Thursday 20 July.
Dwayne Thomas Jr., also known as Mononeon, is an American bassist and experimental musician from Memphis, Tennessee. He is known to his millions of YouTube followers and was one of the last musicians to work with Prince. Grammy Award winner for his performance on Nas’ 2020 album King’s Disease. Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers called Mono “the greatest electric bass player of all time”. On November 1, 2022, Fender released the Mononeon Collection, which included the Mononeon Jazz Bass V Signature.
Confirmed and special guests include Bobby Rush (2-time Grammy winning legend, Blues Hall of Famer, six-time Grammy nominee), John Nemeth (multiple Blues Music Award winner), The Blues Paddlers (aka Davis & Samuel), Charlie Wood, Curtis Salgado, Robin McKale, Mighty Mo Rodgers with Sax Gordon, Eamon Flynn from the original soundtrack to the movie The Commitments And there’s a tribute to The Commitments with Connor Brady. and many more.
