Influenza, COVID-19 and respiratory syncytial virus cement case declines
Acute respiratory infections continue to decrease in primary care and hospitals, although Castile-La Mancha remains one of the communities with the highest incidence rates.Positivity rates for influenza, COVID-19 and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) also declined.
The number of primary care consultations for influenza has fallen for the fourth consecutive week, according to the latest report from the Surveillance System for Acute Respiratory Infections (SiVIRA), which monitors incidence. Influenza hospitalization rates have declined across all age groups, with the highest rates among patients aged 80 or older. In terms of severity, since the start of the season, 36.2% of cases hospitalized with influenza have developed pneumonia, 5.6% have been admitted to the intensive care unit, and 6.4% have died.
In terms of coronavirus, the numbers have fallen for the third consecutive week. The incidence rate is highest among children under 1 year of age.
In terms of VRS, VRS in primary care fluctuated downwards except in children under 4 years of age. In terms of severity, since the start of the season, 20.8% of hospitalizations due to RSV infection have been pneumonia, 10.8% of ICU admissions, and 2.7% of deaths, similar ranges to previous seasons.
