Results of elections to the RAKS Council 2023

The results of the 2023 RACS Council elections will be presented at our annual general meeting in Christchurch on Thursday 9 May 2024 when the newly elected councilors take office.

The philanthropic contributions of Fellows have been and continue to be the College’s most valuable asset and resource. We are grateful for their commitment, and we are also grateful to the voting Fellows (17.51%) who have demonstrated their involvement in the governance of the College.

Elected Councilors of the Commonwealth

There were five positions of elected Commonwealth Councilors to be filled.

Successful candidates in alphabetical order:

William Blake, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Victoria (recently elected to the Board)
Eileen Fitzgerald, General Surgery, ACT (recently elected to the Board)
Nicola Hill, Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, AoNZ (re-elected to the board)
David King, Vascular Surgery, South Africa (recently elected to the Board)
Christine Lai, Department of General Surgery, South Africa (re-elected to the board)

Special Elected Advisors

There was one vacancy to be filled in the next four specialties – only general surgery was up for election. The successful candidate was:
