The Elektra Group, an international specialized trading and financial services company in Mexico, a leader in Latin America that also offers non-bank loans in the United States, could start using bitcoin (BTC). The owner of the firm, Ricardo Salinas Pliego, one of the wealthiest men in all of Mexico, suggested it through his Twitter account on September 5.
Salinas Pliego shared a post by crypto commentator Alex Gladstein highlighting the ease of cryptocurrency payments with a digital wallet and wrote: “We will have it on our network very soon. Elektra stores“, Along with the hashtags” #Bitcoin “and” #LightningNetwork “.
Lightning network is a layer 2 payment solution within the Bitcoin network, allowing instant transactions. This makes it a secure, private and easily adaptable option to payment networks, to boost the use of digital assets to acquire goods or services.
It is not the first time that Salinas Pliego has openly expressed himself in favor of BTC. At the end of June, he acknowledged having made investments in the market before the entry of large companies and urged his followers to adopt similar financial strategies. At that time, he slipped that the fraudulent movements of the traditional financial system were pushing investors to adopt alternative strategies and he became embroiled in a media battle with the officials of the Central Bank of Mexico.
The Mexican magnate – who has a net worth of about 15,000 million dollars – also owns the Azteca Bank, which will likely start accepting BTC in the coming months.
