As a child, she sang Georgia songs, and her father made her listen to Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder, Tracy Chapman and a lot of jazz music. Roberta Finocchiaro. Today she is no longer the little girl who fell asleep to Natalie Cole’s music. Now she is a woman who grew up on bread and music, a rocker who has made her life seven notes. To date, three albums have been released on Simone Virlinzi’s Catania label, Tillie Records: “Foglie di Carta”, “Something True” and “Save Lives With the Rhythm”. Three discs that represent the musical manifesto of Roberta, a cougar wren, capable of showing off her claws and, above all, her voice, demonstrating theatrical compositional abilities, ready to absorb the sounds of her childhood and everything that surrounds her.
Today Roberta announces an event that will mark her career with two exceptional concerts in the United States. September 29 at Hotel Cafè in Los Angeles and October 1 at Transparent Clinch Gallery in Asbury Park, New Jersey.
On September 29, the Hotel Cafè will host Roberta’s Show: a seven-day-a-week live music venue that contributed to the success of many of the great singer-songwriters of the 2000s. Among the artists who have performed at the Hotel Cafè, just mention John Mayer, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Mac Miller, James Bay, David Ryan Harris, Adele, Damien Rice, Sara Bareilles, Billie Eilish, Bruno Mars, Lord Huron, Hozier, Katy Perry, Mumford and Sons, Ray LaMontagne, Gary Clark Jr., Ed Sheeran, Leonard Cohen, Alanis Morissette.
“It’s incredible and very exciting for me,” says Roberta Finocchiaro, “to know that I, too, will become part of the “history” of this place, where artists have performed that I have always respected and who have greatly inspired my music.”
But on October 1st, Roberta will be turning on the lights at the Transparent Clinch Gallery in Asbury Park, “a destination for art and music featuring prints, books, vinyls and portraits of rock stars by famed photographer Danny Clinch, from Johnny Cash to Tupac Shakur.” , from Björk to Bruce Springsteen. His work has appeared on hundreds of album covers and iconic magazine publications, and his gallery often hosts concerts and jam sessions, where Danny himself sometimes joins in on his harmonica.”
“For me,” continues Roberta, “who has always loved photography and music, it is a real dream to play in such a place full of artistic energy.”
But the surprises don’t end there: the US rounds could give Roberta Finocchiaro a moment to remember and treasure. Meeting with the Boss? Very quiet from both Roberta and her manager Simone Virlinzi, who has already had the opportunity to meet Bruce Spingsteen in the past. That Roberta is a big fan of “Made in the USA” rock music, especially the Boss, is evidenced by the fact that several years ago she participated in the first competition dedicated to Bruce Springsteen, “Cover Me” with the group “New “York Serenade” received a critical award.
You have to… dream, and you have to be able to make them come true, and Roberta has succeeded so far. As he says in the book “Heaven is my music!” (Domenico Sanfilippo Editor – Compagnia Nuove Indye): “…Dreams are made up of sensations and energies. I think that the world was created for dreamers, because if there were no dreamers, there would be no hope, and people live by hope, faith in something is the driving force of humanity. Dreams are created by desire, fear of the unknown, a dream is the awareness of the desire to be something, a dream is a feeling of completion. To dream means to see life through the eyes of the soul. When you pursue your dreams with determination, you often get great results…” For the wise…
At this point, all that remains is to wish Roberta, the pride of our country, a safe journey to conquer the States.
