Rotary Club provides scholarships to 100 needy students

The Rotary Club of Gwarinpa Abuja has provided scholarships to 100 needy students in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

This is part of the club’s N11.8 million project for 2023/2024, which will include projects such as the renovation of dilapidated classrooms at the Government Secondary School in Gwarinpa.

Club President Adebanke Aderogba said the gesture was part of the Rotary Club’s history and that in addition to scholarships, 100 students would also receive school bags.

She also noted that the club will donate maternity and care packages to impoverished women in Guarimpa, in addition to providing treatment for prenatal and postnatal conditions and economic empowerment for pregnant and nursing mothers.

Aderoba, who spoke at the inauguration ceremony of the 15th president of the Rotary Club of Gwarinpa in Abuja and fundraiser for the project, said other projects that the club would undertake include hepatitis B and C vaccination, free testing, advocacy and counselling. HIV/AIDS etc.

She also said that as a club they would conduct needs assessments in schools, surrounding communities and decide where to help people and governments.

Aderoba, a lawyer and staff member of the Federal Ministry of Justice, is known for her humanitarian gesture and passion for the empowerment of women and youth, believing that an empowered woman and youth is an empowered power state.

Furthermore, Obioha Elenwoke, the club’s president-elect and chairperson of the investiture committee, said the donations will help underprivileged students and women cope with the current economic situation in the country.

He also said that club members sponsor, mentor and monitor the advancement of all empowered women, youth and students to ensure continuity of their business and advancement.
