Rugby World Cup 2023: England, first 28 called up for world tournament

England are officially targeting the 2023 Rugby World Cup. Coach Steve Borthwick of the world vice-champions has announced the list of first 28 players called up for the training camp which is to begin in the next few days.

For the time being, players from Leicester Tigers, Northampton Saints, Sail Sharks and Saracens are excluded from the list, as are elements of teams that have played in the Premiership playoffs and who would still benefit from a few days off.

Three players are on the probables list: Billy Vunipola, Ollie Chesham and Luke Cowan-Dickie. All are continuing their journey of recovery from their respective injuries.

Joe Marler and Danny Care make the list, as do Val Rapava-Raskin and Ben Spencer. However, due to technical preferences, Joe Launchbury and Sam Symonds are not included in the list.
