Since 1990, the ADMO Association has been active with the main goal of informing the Italian population about the possibility of bone marrow donation as the only cure for many patients who, suffering from leukemia or other blood pathologies, require a transplant to overcome the disease and recover to live.

Transplantation can only be done thanks to a compatible donor, but such compatibility within a family is a very rare variable, so it is almost always necessary to contact the donor registry: only 1 in 100,000 may be the “right guy.”

There have been tremendous advances in the medical field that have made donation an absolute process. safe and not at all invasive. Remember that bone marrow is not the spinal cord. Registration in the Register is possible from 18 to 35 years old, weighing at least 50 kg and in good health. After several years marked by a sharp decline in enrollment caused by the COVID-19 health emergency, new enrollment numbers are rising in 2023 thanks to the resumption of activities that ADMO implements daily in schools and universities.
