Scientists suggest…it slows down aging by 6 years

Immortality, preventing aging and staying young are among the topics that the scientific world focuses on the most. Finally, a new study has listed some tips to slow down aging.

American experts say that measures such as following a good sleep pattern, following a healthy diet, practicing physical activity, and not smoking can slow down the aging process by about six years. One study suggests that these measures, if implemented, support heart health and slow the rate of biological aging by up to six years.

The researchers said people with good cardiovascular health are biologically about six years younger than their actual age, according to the findings, which were based on data from more than 6,500 adults with an average age of 47 years.

“These findings help us understand the relationship between chronological age and biological age and how adopting healthy lifestyle habits can help us live longer,” said Donald Lloyd-Jones of the American Heart Association. “Everyone wants to live longer, but more importantly, we want to live healthier for longer, so that we can truly enjoy a good quality of life for as many years as possible,” he said.

To measure a person’s phenotypic or biological age, researchers examined a person’s metabolism, organ function, and inflammation. Biological age acceleration refers to the difference between a person’s biological age and their actual age, with higher values ​​indicating faster biological aging.

“We found that cardiovascular health is associated with slower biological aging,” said Nour Makarem of the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. We also found a dose-dependent relationship; “The healthier the heart, the lower the biological aging.”

According to the study; While the real average age of those with good heart health was 41 years, their biological average age was 36 years. While the actual average age of those with poor cardiovascular health was 53 years, their biological average age was 57 years.

“Improving cardiovascular health can slow down the aging process in the body, which can provide many benefits in the future,” Makarem said.

Eight health measures identified by the American Heart Association that slow the rate of aging are listed as follows:

2. Become more active

3. Quit smoking

4. Healthy sleep

5. Maintain a healthy weight

6. Control cholesterol

7. Paying attention to blood sugar level

8. Manage blood pressure
