“It would be a chaos and a riot,” said the democrat Cuomo in an interview with CNN, in which he questioned the legality of
the quarantine of two weeks, Trump has been said to be considering and that would affect New York city, neighboring New Jersey and parts of
Connecticut.

New York has become the epicenter of the pandemic COVID-19 in the united States, and accumulates more than 52 thousand confirmed cases, almost half of the total registered in the country.

“As governor, I’m not going to close my borders,” said Cuomo, who considered that such a measure decreed from Washington would be “a declaration of war against the states” and he doubted that Trump locate that.

“Completely goes against everything he has been saying. I don’t think that is possible. I don’t think it’s legal,” insisted the politician
new yorker.

Trump said Saturday that he “would like to see a quarantine in New York, because it is a hot point”.

“New York, new Jersey and may be one or two places more, some parts of Connecticut,” he said.

“I’m thinking of that now. You can not to do this but there is a possibility that at some point today impose a quarantine,” the president said to journalists in Washington.

Later, Trump said he will make a decision “soon” and clarified that, to prevail, the quarantine shall not apply to “truckers
outside of the area of New York.”

“It will not affect the trade in any way,” stressed the president, who at no time said what would be the quarantine.

Before speaking with CNN, Cuomo had said at a press conference that he has never discussed the possibility with Trump, with whom
he had spoken by telephone this Saturday.

“I don’t even know what that means. I don’t know how it could be applied legally. From a medical point of view, I don’t know that lograrías,” said the governor over quarantine.

Cuomo, on the other hand, was very critical in the television interview with the decision of the state of Rhode Island to locate
new yorkers in their territory to force them to spend 14 days in quarantine.

To do this, Rhode Island has announced that it will make controls on the roads to vehicles registered in New York and go house-to-house in some coastal areas where many new yorkers have summer homes.

“I think that is a political reactionary and don’t think it’s legal,” said Cuomo, who said that is talking with the authorities of that
state.

“If you do not turn back to that policy, I will require to Rhode Island, because it is clearly unconstitutional,” he warned.
