According to official data, 232.8 tons of such substances were banned in 2020, 711.1 tons in 2021, a total of 1129.81 tons in 2022, and 105.78 tons eliminated from January 1 to October 4, 2023.
The operations were carried out at chemical precursor complexes at the Estanzuela and Navajas farms in San José del Golfo, Guatemala, using various methods such as incineration, evaporation, neutralization, co-processing and encapsulating drugs and illegal substances to ensure their correct and effective disappearance.
Recently, the National Police General Directorate for Anti-Narcotics Information Analysis (SGAIA) transferred 159 kilograms of cocaine to the complex for incineration.
The illegal items, worth QAR 14,383,835, were discovered on July 25 in the port of Quetzal, Escuintla province, hidden in a container tank from Ecuador.
National Police Deputy Narcotics Commissioner Helfer Belterton reported that from January 1 to October 18, a total of 3,897.22 kilograms of cocaine, 547.97 kilograms of marijuana, 6.18 kilograms of crack and 23.37 kilograms of methamphetamine were seized.
