Serena Williams is taking her talents from the tennis court to the keyboard. The 42-year-old revealed that she recently signed a two-book deal with Random House Publishing Group. The first project is a currently untitled memoir, ABC News reports.
“For a long time, I was only focused on winning and I never sat back and reflected on my life and career,” the professional athlete explained.
“Over the past year, I have really enjoyed spending time with my growing family celebrating my accomplishments and exploring my other passions. “I am in a more perfect place than the Random House team to take on such a personal Intimate projects and no one I would rather work with. “

The book is Williams’ second memoir, the first being online Published 2009. In the new work, described as “an open-ended exploration of the experiences that shaped her life,” the 23-time Grand Slam champion plans to delve deeper.
According to the publisher, Williams shared her experiences, “overcoming scrutiny and attacks in a predominantly white and male sport, suffering devastating losses on and off the field, falling in love with tech entrepreneur Alec Cece Ohanian, Celebrates Body Diversity and Expands Boundaries” style in sports and pop culture, raises awareness of maternal health disparities, and is a devoted mother to daughters Olympia and Adira. “

The second book in the mother-of-two’s oeuvre takes a different path. Detailed by the publisher as “inspiring,” “Williams will draw on her experience as a philanthropist and advocate, her career as a unicorn investor at Serena Ventures, and her long-standing commitment to advancing diversity and Emerging people, providing the rules of life. The aspirations of this generation of young women were not limited to the court.”
In 2022, the tennis star announced her retirement from the sport ahead of the U.S. Open, describing her transition to other ventures as “evolving.”
