Serena Williams’ ex-coach tired of mother-daughter assumptions with partner with 22-year age gap

A four-time Olympian who is 22 years older than her partner is tired of people always assuming they are mother and daughter.

Rennae Stubbs, also known for coaching Serena Williams and as an ESPN analyst, is opening up about her private life in an effort to address the stigma surrounding age-gap relationships. The 52-year-old first met her partner, Eden Bruce, 30, five years ago when they both worked in the tennis industry.

The two are happy in their relationship but are tired of people making “uncomfortable” assumptions about their union. Eden, head coach of AFL women’s side Ipswich Eagles, told What’s The Jam: “The most uncomfortable assumption people make about us is that we are ‘mother and daughter’. After my appearance caught up with my age Previously, I thought this was going to continue to happen.”

“Eden is so mature and has been mature beyond her years for years, so I never worried,” said Renee, who lives in New York City.

When asked what attracted her to Eden, the tennis star added: “Eden’s kindness, not just to me but to everyone she meets. “She’s so easy to get along with. “

The couple occasionally receive hateful comments online, but they say the biggest problems happen in person, from awkward head-turning to unwanted comments from passers-by. Eden said: “We know the world will never understand but we are a normal couple.
