serena williams Signed a two-book deal with Random House Publishing, starting with an intimate and open memoir. She has officially entered an era of reflection.
The Associated Press noted that Williams will share her thoughts: “Overcoming scrutiny and attacks in a predominantly white and male sport, coping with devastating loss on and off the court, and falling in love with tech entrepreneur Alexi Ohanian, celebrate body diversity and expand the boundaries of style in sports and pop culture, raise awareness of maternal health disparities, and be a devoted mother to daughters Olympia and Adira.”
While the book is yet to be titled and has no release date, it will chronicle her journey from childhood and initial tennis training (as depicted in the 2021 film King Richard) to her extraordinary career, highlighting her challenges and setbacks faced.
In a statement on Wednesday, the tennis legend shared: “For so long, I was solely focused on winning, and I never sat down to look back and reflect on my life and career. Over the past year, I’ve really been I enjoy spending time with my growing family celebrating my accomplishments and exploring my other passions.”
Williams continued, “I am in a more perfect place to take on such a personal and intimate project, and there is no one I would rather do it with than the team at Random House.”
The second book is about inspiration. The Compton-born star will share her life lessons based on her experience as a philanthropist, advocate, investor and long-standing commitment to empowering a diverse, emerging generation of young women.
The book deal is just another testament to the athlete’s success. The S by Serena founder is one of the most decorated athletes of all time; her career spanned more than two decades, winning 23 Grand Slam singles titles and 14 Grand Slam doubles titles with her sister Venus champion and won 4 Olympic gold medals.
