The Laver Cup, with its unique energy and format among ATP tournaments, seems like the right stage for Ben Shelton makes his debut for the world team in Vancouver.
Named in the opening singles match against Team Europe’s Arthur Fils, Shelton is expected to bring his signature energy to Rogers Arena, which could set the tone for his team’s campaign.
Shelton and Team World are hoping to win back-to-back titles over Team Europe after their first win last year in London.
Speaking of this week’s episode JSC Show podcast, former UK number one Sam Smith believed Shelton, who had previously thrived in the team atmosphere of college tennis, was ideal for this moment.
