SimTown is a 1995 video game published by Maxis, very similar to the best-selling SimCity but on a smaller scale. SimTown allows the player to build a city consisting of streets, houses, businesses and parks and then control the people who inhabit it. SimTown was one of the many spin-offs of ‘Sim’ at the time and was aimed more at children. SimTown’s game structure is similar to SimCity, but on a generally smaller and more simplified scale, where players are tasked with creating a small town. Players are assigned a flat, blank piece of land, where they must locate houses, workplaces, and civic buildings. Additionally, other elements such as paths and flora can be placed, although they have no practical use beyond beautification.
