Six magical nights The Hills festival is back

Six artists for the 2023 edition of the “Festival delle Colline”. Now in its 44th edition, the program was presented yesterday in Poggio a Caiano, one of the Municipalities which, together with Prato and Carmignano, will host the concerts in the month of July. The characteristic of this summer event, as underlined by the councilor for culture of Poggio Giacomo Mari, has always been that of a “public festival” where quality music is listened to at popular prices. Who are the artists chosen by the director Gianni Bianchi? On 5 July at the villa Il Cerretino (Poggio) at 9.30 pm Michael McDermott, singer-songwriter from Chicago, winner of the Tenco International Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022 and then Scarlett Rivera will perform, who will offer a tribute to Bob Dylan. The ticket costs 5 euros. Saturday 8 July (times to be defined) the festival moves to the Rocca di Carmignano with Michelle Gurevich and Meg. Ticket at 8 euros. Wednesday 12 July stop in Prato in the cloister of San Domenico (9.30 pm) with Daniel Norgren, Swedish composer and songwriter who signed the soundtrack of the film “The eight mountains” and the ticket costs 15 euros. Frida Bollani will be the protagonist with the piano and her voice on Wednesday 19 July in the garden of the Bonistallo church. Frida is 18 years old and is the daughter of Stefano Bollani and she will reinterpret artists such as Lucio Dalla, Franco Battiano, Leonard Cohen, Ariana Grande and Britney Spears. Entrance for 10 euros. Closing of the festival on July 24 (at 21) at the Medici villa of Poggio with Extraliscio-Jacopo Fagioli: this formation has revived the tradition of ballroom dancing, inserting rhythms and sounds from electronics, punk and rock.

“These musical proposals – underlined the councilor for culture of Carmignano Cristina Monni – must arouse curiosity in the public both for the artists and for the places in which they take place”. Francesco Puggelli, mayor of Poggio, is already looking to 2024 when Piazza XX Settembre will be ready: “This square was designed to have a space dedicated to music and the Festival delle Colline will be able to find a place there”. The councilor for culture of Prato Simone Mangani recalled how “the festival also performs a scouting function” thanks also to a contest for young musicians.
