Sloane Stephens endorses Coco Goff’s influence on Venus and Serena Williams’ personal stories

American tennis star Sloane Stephens recently celebrated his 31st birthday by winning his first round match at the 2024 Miami Open. Although Stephens turned pro in 2009, she came into the spotlight when she defeated Serena Williams in the 2013 AO semifinals. Now, after Coco Goff recently revealed how the Williams sisters had a huge impact on shaping the black community, Sloane Stephens has stepped in to reflect on her thoughts on it.

Coco Gauff recently revealed how limited resources she had at the beginning of her career. She said before Serena and Venus Williams took over the tennis world, the black community didn’t have many opportunities. Sloane Stephens mirrored the same lines as Goff, adding a few more names that would have a huge impact on her career.

On the Changeover podcast, Sloane Stephens was asked to describe the pressure or pride she feels from her background.

When it comes to representing the community, Stephens said: “I think it’s great, honestly, just like the representation issue, when I started playing, Venus and Serena were still playing.
