LeBron James seems to be an admirer of the movie “Training Day” starring Denzel Washington. James shared his enthusiasm on Instagram Stories, posting a clip of the film’s director Antonie Fuqua discussing Washington’s memorable “King Kong” monologue from the film.
The film was released in 2001 and reportedly grossed over $104.9 million at the box office. Washington won several Best Actor awards, including one at the Golden Globe for Best Actor. At that time, LeBron James had just started his basketball journey at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School and was about to enter the NBA draft two years later.
“That’s what he had in mind,” Fuqua said of Washington’s improvised screenplay. “We were right there that night. He was totally into it. He was in the moment. He did it. If you look at that shot, it was buzzy and a little bit out of focus. He did it, and it worked. Very good.” He came towards me with great strength and said, “I don’t know where that came from.”
After reminiscing about the film, the four-time NBA champion retweeted the interview on his Instagram Story, captioning it:
“So fucking iconic!”
Denzel Washington, on the other hand, regularly attends Los Angeles Lakers games at Crypto.com Arena.

LeBron James prepares for NBA Season 21
The Los Angeles Lakers are currently preparing for the 2023-24 season, which will be LeBron James’ 21st season in the NBA. He will turn 39 in December, making him the oldest active player in the league.
In an effort to extend his career, James said during Lakers media day that Anthony Davis is the face of the team.
“He’s the face of (the Lakers),” James said at the Lakers’ media day on Monday. “You look at all these numbers around this facility, all the great players that have come here and AD is one of them,” James said.
Meanwhile, the team will play six preseason games, including two against the Golden State Warriors. The first regular season game will begin on October 25th, when they will face the defending champion Denver Nuggets at home.
In order to obtain the “King’s” fifth championship ring, the Lakers added key players to increase the depth of the lineup. Gabe Vincent, Cam Reddish, Taurean Prince, Jackson Hayes and Christian Wood have all been added as the Lakers look to improve upon last season.
