Song Contest ‘My Free Kanto’

Also in the archives is the tenth edition of the singing contest ‘My Free Canto’, organized by Nerio Masia and Paolo Nazzari. The event, which has now become a real tradition for singing enthusiasts, was held last week at Villa Pigna in Folignano, with the finale taking place on Friday evening in front of hundreds of spectators.

The event, promoted in coordination with the municipality and the ‘Ascoli+’ cultural association, saw significant participation, with around fifty singers competing in the categories ‘green’ until the last note (9 of them are between 13 and 13 years old) and ‘ over 14’. To evaluate each solo performance were five ‘technical’ judges, professionals in the field, namely guitarist Maurizio Travaglini, singer Marica Di Francesco (aka Raski), composer and teacher Leonardo De Carolis, singer Luca Orsini and music critic Giancarlo. Mei.

Seven finalists in the ‘Green’ category: the victory went to Paolo Cellani of Venarota, who performed with ‘Sei nel’anima’ by Gianna Nannini. Second place to Chiara Bacchetti of Ascoli, who sang ‘Se telephoning’ by Mina, bronze to Pagliare’s Angelica Gonzales Paz, who sang ‘If the City Burn’ in Nina Zilli’s version. The mayor of Foligno, Matteo Terrani, intervened to present the award to the winner, along with councilor Laura Addis. However, there are twenty finalists in the ‘over 14’ category.

Chieti’s young Sofia Bevilacqua won, having already won the eighth edition of ‘Il mio canto libro’ two years earlier. The singer performed Demi Lovato’s song ‘Stone Cold’. Ilaria Di Matteo came second with Halle Bailey’s ‘Part of Your World’, while Camila Palmisano of Ascoli came third with Luigi Tenko’s ‘You’ll See’. Obviously a round of applause for all the other contestants as well who gave the audience an emotional week with their top-notch performances. Also honored with a special prize. Pier Paolo Piccioni aka Peto awarded ‘Baby’ Aurora Straccia with the ‘Musiccandia’ award, which includes the possibility to record a song in his studio. Valerio Tommasini awarded Ilaria Di Matteo the ‘PSR Studio’ prize, or in this case also a recording of a song.
