Sony Pictures’ television division has bought out both writer David Quinn and illustrator Tim Vigil the rights to the film adaptation of the comic book series “Faust”. Based on graphic novels, an animated series will be created, as reported by the Deadline edition.
The upcoming animated series will be written by Matt Pizolo, best known for his work with the Godkiller franchise. Quinn and Vigil will act as consultants and help adapt the original material. The Executive Producer will be Brian Giberson of Pizolo’s Black Mask Entertainment.
The first edition of the Faust comic series was published by Quinn and Vigil Rebel in 1987 and sold 100,000 copies. The plot of the series, characterized by frank scenes and an abundance of violence, centers around John Jaspers, who sold his soul to Mephistopheles for the sake of obtaining superpowers. But later, the superhero rebelled against him in order to save his beloved Jade and return his soul. Previously, this series of graphic novels has already been filmed: in 2001, director Brian Yuzna made a feature film Faust: Love of the Damned.
