The book, titled Nineteen Steps and inspired by some events in the life of the actress’s grandmother, will be released next fall.
Millie Bobby Brown already thinking about the post Stranger Things, given that the fifth season – which starts filming this summer – will be the last. The 19-year-old actress, who plays Eleven on Netflix’s supernatural series, wrote hers first novel which will be published by William Morrow (publishing house within HarperCollins) this fall (September 12 to be precise). It will be called Nineteen Steps and is described by the publisher as “an epic story of love, loss and secrets”.
Nineteen Steps: The Millie Bobby Brown Book Plot
The novel will tell the story of 18-year-old Nellie Morris, who lives with her family in Bethnal Green during the Second World War. After Nellie’s chance encounter with an American airman stationed nearby, a horrific accident with catastrophic consequences occurs during an air raid. The plot was inspired by grandmother’s life stories of Millie Bobby Brown herself, Ruth, who miraculously survived the famous Benthal Green tube disaster, an accident that caused the deaths of dozens of civilians in the United Kingdom during the Second World War.

“Inspired by my grandmother Ruth, this book is very personal and close to my heart,” Brown said in a statement. “I grew up hearing stories about my time in the war. I’m honored to keep her story alive.” The editor Liz Stein she added, “I was incredibly moved by the haunting true tragedy at the heart of the novel and mesmerized by the unforgettable portrayal of love in wartime.”
