ABOUT THE PROTETOR – THE FINAL CHAPTER

Denzel Washington (“Sete Homens e Um Destino”) turned to Robert McCall’s third article and presumably the last film to be released after “O Protetor” (2014) and “O Protetor 2” (2018) to distribute more like his own Maos. Today McCall encounters a small Calabrian town in Altomonte, Italy. Once he recovers from his injuries, he integrates into the local community and begins to live a more peaceful life. However, when the local mafia comes to torture the criminals, they are forced to take action, leading to a final confrontation with armed gangsters. For the first time, she is no longer alone, relying on the help of new character Emma Collins, played by Dakota Fanning, a CIA agent who has returned to her alias.

An interesting detail is that Washington and Fanning are reunited. These two stories were previously featured in another thriller, Chamas da Vingança (2004), when the actress was 10 years old.

The Final Chapter maintains the violent and graphic approach typical of the genre, with daring and bloody action scenes once again directed by Antoine Fuqua. At the same time, as with the previous films, we retain the familiar elements of the trilogy. But what lifts the master’s work to the top is Washington’s performance, which adds dramatic weight to the plot, with a redemption arc for the protagonist as he tries to redeem himself from being an assassin for the US government.

PATROL CANINA: EM SUPER POWER MOVIE

Showing in theaters on Nickelodeon Children’s Channel, the animated film is the second theatrical release following the success of 2021’s Patrulha Canina: The Film. Written and directed by Cal Brunker and Bob Barlen (“Patrulha Canina”: O) Filme”), the new adventure of two adventures, now as a superhero. RODEIO ROCK

The romantic musical tells the story of two identical artists in appearance, but completely different in character: the ever-famous and controversial Brazilian singer Sertane and Roqueiro, who, despite his talent, is not recognized. Both characters are played by Lucas Lucco.

Gero, a talented roqueiro, was opposed to sertaneja music, mainly because he was extremely close to the greatest Brazilian singer of this genre, Sandro Sanderlei. However, the Hero sees his life change when he has the opportunity to replace sertanejo on his turn, so the artist falls into a coma. Desempregado e cheio de dividas, Hero accepts an offer to travel around the country performing the Sandro Sanderley show. Meanwhile, during his turn, he meets Lully (Carla Diaz from “A Menina que Matou os Pais”), Sandro’s former love, and then apaiksonando to her. From now on, she will listen to herself, lose her individuality and gain the fame and success she always strives for, or she will be true to her principles and win the woman she loves.

NOSTALGIA

The Italian drama explores the house’s complex relationship with its hometown and its past. Soon, Felice Lasco, played by Pierfrancesco Favino (O Trader), returns to his hometown of Naples, having lived abroad for 40 years. The initial reason for the visit is the fragile state of his mother Teresa, but the heart and memories that awaken her have an irresistible attraction to her.

Meeting his mother is emotionally upsetting, but the one who really resembles Felice is a murdered man, accidentally killed by his best friend at the time, Oreste Spaciano, now known as O Malommo, and a fearsome chef from the local mafia.

The film by Mario Martone (Leopardi: Um Jovem Fabuloso) is Italy’s official entry into the race for the International Film Oscar and is notable for Favino’s sensitive performance, nominated for a European Film Award. Paolo Carnera’s cinematography adds a layer of authenticity to the portrait of Naples, who often feels like a separate character. The memories created in Super 8 contrast sharply with the more brooding or somber dinners in the present, heightening the complexity of the schools and relationships that shaped Felice’s life.

OS FILHOS DOS OUTROS

The French drama centers on Rachel, a 40-year-old professor played by Virginie Efira (“Benedetta”), who lives a seemingly full life in Paris until her existence makes a new splash in front of Ali, a car designer interpreted by Roshdi Zem (“ Notre Dame Cathedral – Chamas Cathedral. Things quickly escalate between them, and Rachel begins to become immersed in the life of Ali’s son, Leila. The film explores the complexities of modern schools surrounding motherhood and relationships as Rachel takes on the role of mother, but always in the relationship between Ali and her mother Leila, Alice, played by Chiara Mastroianni (Garota da Pulseira).

The plot follows Rachel for approximately one year and concerns not only her relationships with Ali and Leila, but also her professional life as a professor and her relationship with her family. The film also features subplots involving a problem and a visit to the gynecologist, starring documentary filmmaker Frederick Wiseman (National Gallery), who adds narrative sequences that show the many often contradictory realities of modern adult life. Director and actress Rebecca Zlotowski (“Prima Sofia”) avoids melodrama and easy solutions, opting for a more nuanced and realistic approach to the emotional and social complexities of the main character.

César Award winner Virginie Efira received the Melhor Light Trophy for this film.

AN UNUSUAL FAMILY

Kiernan Shipka (“O Mundo Sombrio de Sabrina”) stars in the indie drama about a young man who cares for his fellow intellectually disabled people. The story was inspired by Sobrinya and the steps of inspiring director Matt Smukler, who lives in the same complex family dynamics. In the story, Shipka lives with Bea, who faces typical teenage issues as she is looked after by neurodivergent couples. This is a gift that touches on the themes of rapid growth and family fidelity, becoming a point of reflection on the many aspects of growth.

Bea has to grow up with a variety of friends, including a professor who encourages her to focus on herself and a love interest who asks why she cares about her parents, forcing Bea to contemplate her own needs versus her family’s needs.

The list includes Samantha Hyde (Atypical) and Dash Mihok (Ray Donovan) as the two, as well as Charlie Plummer (Quem É Você, Alaska?), Alexandra Daddario (As Brooksas Mayfair), Gene Smart (“Khaki”), Brad Garrett (“Everybody Loves Raymond”), Jacki Weaver (“Yellowstone”), Reed Scott (“Veep”) and Ryan Kiera Armstrong (“Chamas da Vinganza”) as the child version of Bea .

No Ordinary Family had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last year and hit U.S. theaters in March.

Vencedor of the shooting festival with “Young people unhappy in a house where endurance is not a dancer” in 2016, Thiago B. Mendonça returned to the event two years later with a general proposal: to explore the art of cinema through childhood violence. The film, which traveled through various countries around the world before finally being released in Brazil, revolves around a director played by Rodrigo Scarpelli (“Psi”), who is the alter ego of Mendonça himself. The character experiences writer’s block and meets the future when his or her philha, being a student, quickly decides to make a film. This project is an opportunity for you to return to the history of cinema and rediscover your history of the seventh art.

The production was inspired by directors Bebel and Isa, who played a spontaneous and improvisational form in the film. The production combines documentary and fictional elements, reflecting both the reality of family and the magic of cinema, while also serving as an educational tool designed to inspire creativity in children’s audiences and help build new audiences for Brazilian cinema.
