Suga from BTS goes to military service

Suga from BTS is about to become a military man. On Monday, August 7, record label BigHit announced that Suga had begun the process of completing his mandatory military service in South Korea..

“We would like to inform our fans that BTS’s Suga has started his military service by requesting that his pending enlistment be cancelled,” BigHit said in a statement posted on Weverse, promising to keep ARMY updated with any updates.

“We ask that you continue to love and support Suga until he completes his military service and returns safe and sound,” the statement said. “Our company will make every effort to support our artist.”

Laws of South Korea

South Korea originally passed a law in 2020 that allowed BTS members to defer their mandatory military service for up to 30 years.. The country’s laws state that citizens must enlist in the military between the ages of 18 and 28.

The announcement comes just a day after the K-pop star wrapped up the Asian leg of his August D-Day Tour in support of his solo album. DAY Dwhich he released under his stage name Agust D. The tour concluded with three concerts, August 4-6, at the KSPO Dome in Seoul.
