Shows, Contests and Awards. This eighth edition of the Voice Over – Film and Dubbing Festival – dedicated to the name of the great voice actor Tonino Accola, will be the main content of this event, which will take place again this year on 23 and 24 in Syracuse via Minerva. june.
Conceived and directed by Stefania Altavilla, featuring the inevitable competition, will see alternating moments of entertainment, shows, interviews, live dubbing on stage, all punctuated by two presenters who have already given life to a new formula. version, livelier and more fun. On stage, accompanied by guests and contestants participating in the competition, will be Rosella Leone and Rosario Terranova, directed by Giulia Galati.
The event, sponsored by the municipality, was presented at a press conference this morning by the mayor, Francesco Italia, and the councilor for culture, Fabio Granata. Also present was actor and voice actor Mario Cordova, a past guest of the award and in Syracuse today to present his debut novel, “Birds Have No Vertigo.”

For two evenings, thanks to this event, Syracuse becomes the dubbing capital.
Along with the guests of the first evening, Emanuela Rossi and Angelo Maggi – “double actors” – who will give life to the original performance by Alessandro Farro, among live dubbing, music and other amusing moments of pure entertainment.
This year a space will be reserved for news and historical events, thanks to the presence of journalist, author and television presenter Gianni Riota. Riota works for La Stampa, collaborates with the Italian edition of HuffPost and has been a columnist for La Repubblica since 2021.
While a step back in the history of dubbing will be accomplished, in an unprecedented and completely original way, thanks to the onstage contribution of Daniel Mauceri, scion of the Vaccaro / Mauceri family, master puppeteers of Syracuse.
Honours and awards.
A special recognition, the Male Voice Excellence Award, will be handed out to Simone D’Andrea – the extraordinary voices of Colin Farrell and Matt Damon – and Margherita De Ricci, the Female Voice Excellence Award. She will also be presented with a Special Mention, Lifetime Achievement Award, Tonino Accola Award for dubbing directing, Carlo Cosolo, who, along with young voice actors – this year will be presented by Margherita De Risi (voices of Elle Fanning, Selena Gomez, Isabella Moner) . Special attention will be given to cinematographic sagas.
Second evening.
On the second evening, Saturday the 24th, there will be live music by Alessandro Farr – composer from Catania, author of various soundtracks for films such as Poli Oposti, director Max Croci’s debut film – accompanied by Peppe Peralta on ukulele.
Competition.
Important placement for the participants of the competition – a sign that characterizes the objectives of the Tonino Accola Award – The competition will be the most exciting moment of the evening for the young voice actors, who will have to perform and test themselves in the lecture. The new generation of Italian dubbing will compete in front of two juries, the technical – made up of professional dubbers – and the press: they will receive the final verdict on the best female and male voices.
