Tall Marble pre-spring 2024: interviews with designers

It has wings, minimal silhouette, royal neckline and moon. The world of Taller Marmo was born ten years ago, from the dream – and ingenuity, they say with a smile – of Riccardo Audisio and Yago Goicocchia. The Pre-Spring 2024 collection is an exemplary synthesis of the brand’s philosophy: the two designers reveal the perfect balance between essential shapes and the eye-catching details on which their collections have always been based: “In our first pieces there were jeans, feathers instead of tears”. We recognize the seventies, the creative power of youth, passion and Meena amidst the texture of her fabulous costumes. The collection for this summer 2023 is inspired by the supermodels of the seventies: there are Veruschka, Naomi Sims, Pat Cleveland, Donyale Luna… It’s fabulous glamour, women who shine themselves, Newtonian women, gritty women, flashy colors , bold colors.

What the Pre-Spring 2024 collection wants to tell instead new Age,

As we approach our tenth birthday, this collection is the starting point of a new chapter: that’s why pre-spring 2024 is called the “New Age”. In recent years, some designers who have always inspired us – of the space age, such as Pierre Cardin, Paco Rabanne or Marie Quant – have passed away. The new era is our thanksgiving, which is the basis of our work. We wanted to incorporate some of his stylistic traits into our collection and at the same time make it extremely futuristic.

What attracted you to the sixties and seventies?

The Cultural Revolution in Primis, a desire to fundamentally change life as we knew it. Search, experiment. Looking closely, those years bear a resemblance to the present: we see a similar need for change in contemporary times.

Who is Taller Marmo’s muse?

It’s hard to choose just one. But it all started with Meena, she has been and always has been. It’s not the closest in terms of style, but the spirit of it, the vibrancy of it has always inspired us. Veruschka never goes missing, we can’t help but include it on every mood board.

What to answer to those who say that this is summer – and the year of minimalism?

Let’s hope so! Our clothes really stay on the essential lines. Very low cuts, deep but hidden slits, minimal silhouette. Whether you strip down to our colors or feathers, construction is essential. We love creating a dialogue between theatricality and minimalism.

Where does the passion for feathers come from? What do they tell?

The first collection in which we used feathers was in 2014, since then they have become a common thread of Taller Marmo. The use of feathers was not that popular at that time, but we never abandoned it. The earliest pieces in which it was used were red pants with small pink feather detailing. These were accompanied by a pair of jeans – extremely experimental – with feathers in place of tattered and threads. Then came the Ubud costume, and it became our specialty, our signature style.

Have you always been an experimentalist?

We’ve never been afraid to experiment, perhaps even unknowingly. Yet we like to surround ourselves with this magic: Taller Marmo makes clothes that are a dream to dream in. If that ingredient is lost, the heart of the brand is lost. Even in the design of a collection, we follow this guideline: We live for the immediacy of the idea. When we spend too much time ruminating we know it will get us nowhere.

Who would you like to dress up as?

My. All we need to know is that she wore one of our dresses. closed box. And Penelope Cruz, too, would be a dream to see her wearing Taller Marmo.

We love to think that our clothes can be appreciated by more classic people and more daring people. Two worlds that intersect in a constant experimental dialogue.
