One of the most underrated signings of the Los Angeles Lakers offseason was Taurean Prince, who was shockingly waived by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Prince eventually signed with Los Angeles at a discount, signing a one-year, $4.5 million contract. The forward shot 38.1 percent from three-point range on 3.6 attempts last season and has the ability to defend the perimeter against some of the best wideouts in the league.

He’s now entering a championship situation for the first time in his career and seeing firsthand what life is like playing alongside LeBron James. The Timberwolves and Lakers had a heated rivalry last season, with both teams fighting for playoff spots and facing off in the playoffs. However, Prince shared a sentimental moment between James and his son after the regular season ended, via lakers:

“Speaking of LeBron, what impressed me the most was last season. After the game, he walked up to my son and asked my son to hold his sleeve. Since then, my son has cut off the sleeves of his pajamas. Don’t want to do anything but wear a sleeve because LeBron James wears sleeves.”

It was a truly healthy moment between Prince’s son and James, who is clearly a favorite player for many fans around the world. For the four-time champion to single out Prince’s son and share that moment is something he’ll never forget growing up, and it’s a moment he already seems to be wasting.

Fast forward and now Prince is about to join the Lakers so his son will be able to attend games and see James consistently, which will be another added bonus. Prince is one of the most experienced forwards in the league and he’s trying to shoot 40 percent from three for Los Angeles, which will do wonders for their floor spacing.

He joins a team that is headed to the Western Conference Finals and will add length, shooting and defense on the wing that the Lakers desperately needed last season in hopes of helping them get over the hump and win a championship next season.

Prince believes Davon Ham’s defense-first mentality is a good fit for him

Lakers head coach Davon Ham promotes defense and chasing down the court, a mentality Prince believes suits him well as a player.
