The superstar has 8 nominations in his pocket. For the first time since the introduction of the Artist of the Year category in 2017, all the nominees are women, from Swift to Doji through Minaj, Shakira, Beyoncé and Karol G.

Taylor Swift leads the nominations for the 2023 MTV Video Music Award.

There are eight credits given to the singer, who could become the most awarded female artist in VMA history if she manages to take home at least six awards (she currently has 14 VMAs), thus beating Madonna, who boasts 20.

The race is dominated by all female artists, with SZA up for six awards and Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, Kim Petras and Nicki Minaj close to five nominations each.

Sam Smith also received five nominations, while Shakira, BLACKPINK and Diddy were honored in four categories.
