The Tías City Council celebrates its 3rd Health Day on November 16 with a seminar titled “Techniques to Combat Anxiety”, which will be organized by Psychology at the Conecta Tías Headquarters in Puerto del Carmen at 6:30 p.m. Professor Alicia Lopez Covarrubias teaches.
Following previous sessions that discussed self-care for young people, wellbeing-oriented prevention and technology addiction, this session focused on mental health and delves into the issue of anxiety. Data shows that there has been a significant increase in cases of anxiety disorders, with the condition becoming increasingly common among the population. In fact, more than seven in 10 people have experienced symptoms of anxiety, according to a survey conducted this year by Sigma Dos.
These meetings are part of the Health Promotion and Prevention Strategy of the National Health Service (SNS) adhered to by the Tias City Council in 2021, which started with the “Learning from School 112” campaign.
In this issue, Alicia Covarrubias will conduct a workshop to learn how to recognize the symptoms of anxiety and stress, as well as some guidelines for managing them.
“It is necessary to change our perspective on anxiety, stop fighting and determine when it is time to seek professional help,” says the psychologist. In their opinion, it is necessary to demand healthy mental development in children, adolescents and adults.
