Teen from Minnesota wows judges on ‘The Voice’

Jocelyn Rose knows a thing or two about creating magic. The 16-year-old Minnesota resident works as an assistant to illusionist Max Fleet, who regularly performs throughout the upper Midwest.

But Rose can do magic on her own. She proved that on Monday’s season premiere of NBC’s “The Voice,” wowing the judges with her performance of Duncan Lawrence’s “Arcade.”

Three of the four panelists—Gwen Stefani, Niall Horan and newcomer Reba McEntire—turned around in their chairs to show they wanted to be her coaches. John Legend was the only one to abstain, although he later compared her to Billie Eilish.

McIntyre said the teenager was an “old soul.”

After the performance, Rose told everyone that she was from Lake Benton, Minnesota.

“What’s in the water?” – Stephanie said.

The former No Doubt singer seemed quite pleased when Rose decided to join her team, even throwing one of her shoes onto the stage.

Rose, who has eight sisters, still has a long way to go before she becomes one of the show’s youngest winners. A total of 56 artists will be selected before the next round.

“The Voice” airs at 7:00 pm on Mondays and Tuesdays on KARE, Chapter 11.
