Texan singer-songwriter Carrie Rodriguez in concert in Figino

The Italian tour of the Mexican-American singer-songwriter and violinist ends on Sunday 19 March at the Teatro Sacro Cuore in Figino Serenza Carrie Rodríguez accompanied by the multi-instrumentalist Luke Jacobs. The concert, at the unusual time of 17.30, will allow those who wish to participate in the organized dinner, such as the concert, in favor of the ChiaraBib Association dedicated to Chiara Corti, the town’s librarian who died prematurely in 2018.

Austin Texas native Carrie Rodriguez finds beauty in cross-pollinating different traditions. She is an artist full of passion that she effortlessly blends fiery violin, electrifying voice and her “Ameri-Chicana” attitude. Carrie has performed and worked with such legendary artists as Lucinda Williams, John Prine, Patty Griffin, Bill Frisell, Rickie Lee Jones, Mary Gauthier, Los Lobos, Alejandro Escovedo, Jeff Bridges and Los Lonely Boys, among others and in 2011 she is exhibited at the Ariston Theater in Sanremo on the occasion of the prestigious Tenco Prize.

Carrie began playing the violin at the age of five. Her education quickly became the passion and focus of her childhood and at just 10 years old she was performing at Carnegie Hall. She pursued classical music until her freshman year at the conservatory, but then changed course to pursue her true love affair with the violin at Berklee College of Music. Carrie’s fate was marked, if we consider that her father David was a cult folksinger and her aunt was Eva Garza, one of the most important Mexican voices of the 50s. The turning point for her career came in 2001 when she was discovered by the songwriter Chip Taylor, author of Wild thing (brought to success by Jimi Hendrix) and brother of actor John Voight (and Angelina Jolie’s uncle), who noticed her during the famous SXSW festival in Austin and offers her to collaborate with him.

Carrie lives in Austin Texas with her partner and musical collaborator Luke Jacobs, a multi-instrumentalist from Minnesota, and their 8-year-old son Cruz.

The show does not end with the live performance of Rodriguez and Luke Jacobs, on stage also the singer-songwriter Andrea Parodi, Riccardo Maccabruni on the accordion and piano, the singer-songwriter Beatrice Campisi and the actresses Giorgia Graziano and Paola Mancuso who will be the voices of Chandra’s poems Livia Cardani. A nice way to remember Chiara, luminous presence of the event.
