Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Herzi Halevy announced Monday that the Air Force is capable of bombing any region of the Middle East.
He also said in a statement tonight: “We are constantly ready to deal with other regions.”
He said he visited the headquarters of the 140th Air Support Squadron of the “Adair” aircraft.
Fighting continues in Gaza
For his part, the Israeli army spokesman said that the Israeli armed forces continue to fight in the Gaza Strip.
He explained that the Israeli army had taken control of a building belonging to Hamas in the Gaza Strip, adding: “We continue to destroy tunnels in northern Gaza.”
He also added: “We continue to target several locations in southern Lebanon.”
Israel today announced the launch of the second phase of its ground operation in the Gaza Strip, penetrating deeper into the ground, exploring and identifying tunnels.
A military spokesman revealed on Monday that Israeli forces are preparing to attack Hamas fighters in their tunnels and underground hideouts in the northern Gaza Strip, after sealing off the area with troops and tanks.
Lieutenant Colonel Richard Hecht added to reporters: “Now we will begin to tighten the noose around them.” He concluded by saying: “When I say we tighten the screws, this also means above and below ground!”
Interestingly, the Israeli army said today that it attacked 450 Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip last night, underlining that numerous militants were killed.
He added that he managed to kill several Hamas field commanders, including Jamal Musa, who the army said was responsible for private security in the Hamas movement.
